A leaking shed flat roof may need only a local repair if the covering and deck are otherwise sound. Before recoating the entire roof, identify whether water is entering through one crack, split, joint, edge or damaged detail.
Common places to inspect
- Splits or cracks in the covering.
- Lifted laps, joints or seams.
- Edges and perimeter details.
- Fixings or penetrations.
- Areas where water repeatedly ponds.
Check the deck condition
A local surface repair is not a solution for a rotten, soft or sagging deck. If the structure beneath the covering has deteriorated, that problem needs to be addressed first.
Local reinforced repair
